Our health fund policy
Health Insurance companies provide a valuable service to many Australians and can help meet the cost of quality professional health services. It is important to realise that there are many different health funds and all offer different products, services and combinations of cover. Before committing to a policy, think carefully about what your insurance requirements are and look for a fund that offers a policy that best meets your needs and budget.
To ensure that our professional relationship with our patients is never compromised, Crookes & Jenkins Dental operate independently from all health funds. Our business is the provision of quality dental services and we charge a fair fee for this service.
HICAPS
As part of our service to you we do provide HICAPS facilities. If your health fund is a participating member, our reception staff will be able to submit a claim to your health fund on your behalf, saving you the hassle of submitting the claim yourself. Your Health Fund’s contribution will be deducted from your account so you only have to pay your co-payment towards your treatment.
You will need to bring along your membership card so that we can process the transaction.
Preferred provider schemes
Recently, health funds have begun to introduce preferred provider schemes into Australia. These schemes are essentially a contract with the dentist to provide certain services for a fixed fee (usually discounted) in exchange for advertising and marketing benefits from the health fund.
At Crookes & Jenkins Dental we have chosen not to join these schemes. This decision has not been made lightly, but out of a deep concern for the long- term wellbeing and freedom of choice for our patients.
Our experience of preferred provider schemes overseas has essentially taught us that they lead to limited patient choices and services, use of cheaper and inferior treatment options and materials and, after a protracted presence, the lowering of dental standards. The advantage of being on the health funds marketing bandwagon comes at far too high a price.
For your convenience, we do have HICAPS, which allows us to process your health funds co-payment while you are here, but we have not contracted with any health insurance fund to provide your services for a discounted fee.
